I dropped into the Wangi Men’s Shed recently, and let me tell you, the bacon and egg rolls were worth the trip alone. So good, in fact, that even a local magpie decided to swoop in and nick one straight out of a bloke’s mouth!
It was great to catch up with the guys and see the incredible work they’re doing. From fixing things to mentoring young fellas and simply being there for a chat, Men’s Sheds like this one are a lifeline, especially when it comes to looking after men’s mental and physical health.
I also had the privilege of presenting Robert with his honorary life membership, a well-earned recognition for someone who gives so much to his mates and his community.
If you haven’t checked out your local Men’s Shed through the Australian Men’s Shed Association, now’s the time. There are plenty across the Hunter, all full of top people and even better yarns.
